About Us
The Lampeter-Strasburg Community Band was formed in 1992 as a result of an adult education course. It performs at a variety of local venues throughout the year and currently has about 40 members.
The band’s director, Howard Boots, is a music education graduate of Millersville University and a retired elementary band director in the Cocalico School District. He retired from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic. Howard also performs with other groups including local favorites such as the Dave Stahl Big Band.
The band rehearses weekly throughout the year at Community United Methodist Church in Lancaster on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
New members are welcome in the French Horn section.
A portion of the community band are also members of the Flipside Big Band, which rehearses monthly.
